As part of our collaboration with T-Mobile and in line with Testbed’s role in designing and validating scenarios for industrial use of the 5G SA network, Testbed developed a prototype 5G IoT Gateway modular device. The device allows different I/O modules to be connected to a 5G communication module that acts as a router. In the first phase, a sensor for measuring power consumption in a three-phase power grid was developed, modules for other types of sensors will follow.

The device was commercialized through TRIX Connections, s.r.o., a spin-off company of CTU.

Key Technologies

  • 5G Connectivity The gateway supports both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) architectures, ensuring compatibility with 5G and 4G (LTE) networks. This dual compatibility ensures seamless connectivity across different network standards, enhancing versatility in deployment.
  • Modular Design The gateway boasts an ultra-compact and modular design. This allows for various extensions, such as additional I/O ports and specialized sensors, to be easily added, meeting diverse industrial requirements.   • Energy Efficiency The gateway incorporates advanced energy metering capabilities, capable of three-phase electrical measurements.   • Environmental Protection With an IP65 rating, the 5G IIoT Gateway is designed to operate reliably in harsh environmental conditions. This rating ensures protection against dust and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for outdoor and industrial environments.
  • Energy Metering The gateway offers detailed three-phase electrical measurement capabilities. It features an integrated web server that allows for remote monitoring and control of energy consumption, providing real-time data to optimize energy usage.
  • Data Interfaces Equipped with multiple data interfaces, including Ethernet, RS485, RS232, and USB, the gateway supports versatile connectivity options. These interfaces enable easy integration with existing industrial systems and devices, enhancing interoperability.
  • Remote Management The gateway provides a web-based interface for easy configuration, monitoring, and firmware updates. This remote management capability reduces the need for on-site maintenance and allows for quick adjustments to system settings from any location.
